Journal of Creative Pursuit (JoCP)
A living diary of creatives exploring culture, identity, and society through artistic expression. We celebrate the global majority by amplifying diverse voices and perspectives across creative disciplines.
Through storytelling, visual arts, and critical dialogue, JoCP goes beyond the surface, delving into the intersections of cultural diversity and social issues.
ONLINE AND ON THE GROUND
JoCP was first established in 2020 in a small dorm room in Brighton, England. Now, we have worked with dozens of creatives from around the world to celebrate their art and be a medium for them to tell their stories.
Believing that print isn’t dead, we initially published in print format. However, over the past five years, rising shipping costs and shifting regulations have made global distribution increasingly challenging.
Now based in Jakarta, Indonesia, we are reimagining our platform, transitioning to digital to reach a wider audience and create a greater impact. While we’re embracing this shift, our physical presence isn’t disappearing, we’re simply evolving.

Relationship
As we navigate the vibrant tapestry of life, we weave threads that connect us to other beings. These threads take many forms - romantic, familial, friendships, and even fleeting connections with strangers that can leave a lasting impact. Some threads remain strong, while others wear out and eventually break, leaving one or both parties with immense pain that often turns into numbness. Our cover represents the human experience as a whole. Sharing parts of ourselves with others can bring fulfilment, but if given to the wrong person, it can make us bleed.
Through conversations with strangers, loved ones, and creatives, we explore these threads from the moment they are woven together, nurtured, and sometimes weathered by time. Our discussions revealed that meaningful relationships can extend beyond the living. Food, essential for our survival, often holds a deeper significance than merely satisfying hunger. It can heal our inner selves or forge meaningful connections with those around us.
The different elements of nature around us often go unnoticed, yet they help us build a connection inward. Nature helps us understand who we are, recognise our collective history and strengthen our identity in the eyes of those who encounter us.
In this journal, we strive to untangle those threads and are faced with moments of confusion, emotional turbulence, warmth, love and self-reflection.
